Maralene Ferguson Bates has degrees in Business Administration and Business Management. She is a summa cum laude (with highest distinction / 4.0 gpa) graduate of Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn, New York.
She is a Georgia Certified Educator and an approved test facilitator for the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) and Stanford Tests.

Ms. Maatsaellah has participated in Montessori classrooms, taught in an A Beka private school, and tutored in public schools under the Title 1 Program. She has been continuously involved in community events during summer breaks and the Kwanzaa season. She continues supporting families with tutoring, group classes, and test preparation for SAT, ACT, GED, and ASVAB exams.
She completed the StartME: Clarkston Business Development program—earning one of three cohort nominations to receive a business funding award. She continues to hone her business and education expertise through personal development courses and programs.
Maralene is an Army veteran. During her service in the military, she earned 5 Top Honor awards: Basic Training, Advanced Training, 2 Military Speciality competitions, and NCO Academy. She also earned the Army Commendation Medal, 2 Good Conduct medals, and Airborne Jump Wings. She attained the rank of Specialist E5/Sergeant in less than 2 years.
Maralene graduated high school early and attended Monterey Peninsula College during her senior year. She was also a selected debutante of the Monterey Cotillion League. She participated in Drill Team and Songleaders during high school.
